Connect Google Analytics

What you will accomplish

You will connect an Automotive GA4 property for website traffic, vehicle-page interest, or both.

Who can do this

Owners and Admins in an eligible Automotive workspace can connect GA4.

Before you start

Obtain the numeric GA4 Property ID—not the G- measurement ID. Create a Google Cloud service-account key, grant its service account Viewer access to the GA4 property, and choose the target rooftop. Treat the JSON key as a secret.

Connect the property

1. Open Account menu → Config → Connect your data.
2. Select the Google Analytics area.
3. Select Connect Google Analytics.
4. Enter GA4 Property ID.
5. Paste Service-account key (JSON) or select Upload .json.
6. Select Website traffic, Vehicle page views, or both.
7. If you selected vehicle pages, select Vehicle page URL style.
8. Verify the URL pattern (regex).
9. Select Rooftop.
10. Select Test connection.
11. Read the test result.
12. Select Connect.

Expected result: the connection list shows one connection for each selected report and its rooftop.

Troubleshooting and recovery

• Test cannot connect: confirm the property ID, JSON structure, Google permission, and property access.
• Vehicle interest is empty: verify that the URL pattern matches real vehicle-detail paths.
• Connect is disabled: complete the property, key, report, and rooftop fields.
• A key was exposed: revoke it in Google Cloud and replace the connection credential.
